Naturalness and Origin
There are natural forms in our food, and some of them our body even produce itself. These natural forms are effortlessly absorbed by our body, resulting in a much more effective process than with synthetic variants. Synthetic forms, which are not inherent to our body, are often largely excreted again. In some cases the body can utilize these substances, but only after complicated conversion processes that require a lot of effort from our body.
Despite these disadvantages, many brands still mainly choose synthetic forms, mainly because of the low purchase cost. But as a consumer, why invest in a supplement that actually has little to no effect?
Absorption: Why it matters?
When evaluating a vitamin or mineral, we look not only at its origin but also its absorbability, with special attention to its "bioavailability. Higher bioavailability means better absorption by the body. Usually, natural forms are the most bioavailable.
Branded Ingredients
As indicated earlier, we prefer natural forms. However, on our labels, you often see designations such as KSM-66®, Vita-algae D® and Affron®. They may not sound natural, but they certainly are. These are the so-called "branded ingredients. They are usually specific extracts or substances developed by reputable laboratories that have passed many clinical tests. After extensive research, patents are applied for.
KSM-66®, for example, is actually the herb Ashwagandha, but in the form of the world's most concentrated full-spectrum extract. Produced from the root, without the addition of leaves, for increased effectiveness.
Quality certification ISO 22000
In the Netherlands it is actually sufficient to comply with the HACCP legislation, but for Vitakruid this is not enough. From our own motivation, we have always gone the extra mile. This was crowned with the ISO 22000 certification, an international food safety standard that is designed to guarantee consumers safe food. To obtain this certification, you must meet an extensive list of requirements. For us, the main thing is to eliminate every possible risk and check every batch, so that our customers can be confident in us and our products.
