History
The history of Solgar begins in 1947 in Manhattan, New York. From a passion for the preventative effects of natural supplements, pharmacists Nat Colby and Mike Goldfarb, along with holistic physician Carl Zoll, founded the Solgar Vitamin & Herb company.
In a Manhattan pharmacy, they develop the first Solgar product; Naturvite, a powdered multi-vitamin. When Goldfarb and Zoll go their separate ways after a few years, Colby meets the young biochemist Allen Skolnick. Together they lay the further foundation for the company with a philosophy and method all their own in which science, innovation, quality and integrity are the foundations.
In 1947, there was one employee on staff and one product available. Today, more than 300 Solgar products are available, making their way to consumers in 60 different countries.
Although many changes have taken place within the company, Solgar still remains true to the founders' philosophy in developing its high-quality supplements.
