Elemental Chromium with ionic minerals
Elemental Chromium is based on concentrated mineral drops, or CMD. This is a special seawater concentrate from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, USA. It contains the full spectrum of minerals and trace elements, with almost all sodium removed. In this product, it is enriched with extra chromium in the form of chromium chloride.
This product is made through a traditional and natural concentration process that uses the sun.
The minerals and trace elements in Elemental Chromium are present in dissolved and ionic form, as electrolytes. This means they are not bound to other elements, but exist as separate electrically charged particles.
For example, when magnesium chloride (MgCl2) dissolves in water, it splits into the ions Mg2+ and Cl-. In the body, minerals also occur in this way, dissolved in intra- and extracellular fluids such as blood plasma. Minerals in ionic form are therefore well absorbed.
Chromium and blood sugar balance
Chromium helps maintain normal blood sugar levels. It is also important for the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats because it supports the action of insulin.
The pancreas produces insulin and releases it into the bloodstream when blood glucose levels rise too high, such as after eating carbohydrates.
Insulin binds to insulin receptors and helps open insulin-sensitive cells, such as muscle, liver, and fat cells, to glucose. These tissues then store excess glucose for later use as glycogen and, mainly, fat.
Ideally, blood glucose levels stay stable and insulin release remains no higher than necessary. A diet high in simple sugars increases chromium excretion.
Health claims
Elemental Chromium supports the normal metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. It also helps maintain normal blood sugar levels.
