High-quality bacterial strains in user-friendly capsules
Symflora® Original is available in two different delivery forms: capsules and sachets. The composition of these products is identical. Do you find working with powder from sachets inconvenient? You can now choose the capsule form, where three capsules equal one sachet.
Contains eight different bacterial strains
In our well-known and widely applicable Symflora® formula, we combine no fewer than eight different bacterial strains. Scientific research shows that a carefully composed blend of bacteria performs better than using a single strain. Just as a team becomes truly strong when it consists of players with diverse qualities, these strains reinforce one another.
Combined with inulin, dextrin & FOS
Symflora® Original also contains prebiotics, the dietary fibers that serve as nutrition for bacteria. These fibers naturally occur in vegetables, fruit, and grains. These indigestible dietary fibers stimulate the growth of bacterial strains, contributing to improved stability and a higher survival rate in the body.
High survival rate in the digestive tract
Product quality is partly determined by the number of living bacteria that ultimately reach the body. When passing through the digestive system, bacterial strains are exposed to digestive fluids such as stomach acid and bile. Some products do not survive this acidity, resulting in a low survival rate. Symflora®, however, contains a composition of bacterial strains with a high survival rate (see graph below).
Stability and survival are more important than colony count
The colony-forming units per gram (CFU/g)* in Symflora® remain stable after passing through the digestive tract. This has been demonstrated in research conducted by Winclove Probiotics in cooperation with Maastricht University. This means that the bacterial strains largely pass through the digestive tract undamaged and remain stable. The strains therefore show a high survival rate and stability.
Survival rate and stability are therefore important criteria when selecting a quality supplement. It is often claimed that the number of CFU/g is decisive in evaluating a high-quality synbiotic, but this is not entirely correct. What matters more is whether bacteria actually survive passage through the digestive system.
*The abbreviation (CFU/g) stands for colony-forming units per gram. In Dutch this is referred to as kolonievormende eenheden per gram (KVE/g). This number represents the number of bacterial colonies present in one gram of product. One capsule of Symflora® Original contains 6.7 x 108 CFU/g, equivalent to 670 million colony-forming units. Three capsules equal 2 billion bacterial colonies.
