Explanation of the composition
‡ IE/IU = International Units. IE/IUs are only used for vitamins A, D and E. The exact definition of 1 IE/IU varies per substance and is established in international agreements.
†RI stands for Reference Intake and replaces the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance). RI is a guideline for the intake of vitamins and minerals in particular. RI and ADH are equal in number.

Superior source and production method
The astaxanthin used in this product is AstaReal®, produced by the Swedish company AstaReal. This company is a pioneer in natural astaxanthin and a specialist in production from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis.
AstaReal was the first company in the world to develop and produce astaxanthin from this microalga. More than 40 human studies have been conducted with AstaReal®.
Whole food astaxanthin
The production method used by AstaReal is unique. It produces pure natural astaxanthin with high concentrations and consistent quality.
AstaReal® is not an extract but a whole food. The algae that contain astaxanthin are harvested at the optimal moment and used completely.
Other production methods grow algae in open ponds. Producers must extract astaxanthin early to prevent contamination by microorganisms. The AstaReal method avoids this step.
High dosage
Research indicates that higher dosages are often recommended. Each softgel capsule of Astamax provides 6 mg astaxanthin.
The formula also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and vitamin E.
