There is no debate in science about the importance of omega-3 for health. The most well-known omega-3 fatty acids are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA have numerous health-promoting effects.* These fatty acids support the heart, vision, brain function, and triglyceride levels in the blood.*

Minimum 100 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA

Vegan Omega-3 capsules are a natural product, meaning DHA and EPA levels may vary slightly. However, we guarantee a total of 500 mg omega-3, with at least 100 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA per capsule.

Natural and best absorbable triglyceride form

During omega-3 supplement production, EPA and DHA are separated from other fatty acids. This can be done in two ways:

1. In one process, ethyl esters are formed. These are less efficiently absorbed by the body. To properly absorb these omega-3 fatty acids, the body depends on glycerol. If insufficient glycerol is available, omega-3 absorption becomes less efficient.

2. A higher-quality process restores the substances to their original molecular structure. The resulting omega-3 fatty acids are called triglycerides. This is the best absorbable form and does not depend on additional substances for absorption. This is why our Vegan Omega-3 exclusively contains triglycerides.

Producing traditional fish oil requires large quantities of fish, contributing to ocean depletion. Therefore, demand for a sustainable and traceable omega-3 source continues to grow. The renowned algae producer DSM® has addressed this challenge by producing omega-3 fatty acids from microalgae, helping preserve marine biodiversity.

The production of life’s™ OMEGA consists of four steps:

1. Production starts with sugar and marine algae. The sugar comes from renewable sources such as sugar beet, wheat, and corn. The algae strain used is Schizochytrium sp., cultivated by DSM® in Nebraska, USA.

2. During fermentation, algae cells multiply and convert sugar into omega-3 fatty acids, stored in oil droplets.

3. The cell walls are then broken in a downstream process, separating oil from water and producing concentrated algae oil plus a liquid by-product.

4. DSM® uses the by-product as a protein source or converts it into biogas for electricity production.

Naturally high EPA concentration for algae oil

This algae oil is unique because of its naturally high EPA concentration. The Schizochytrium algae strain used by DSM® produces both EPA and DHA.

Schizochytrium originates from the North Pacific Ocean and is not genetically modified. The result is exceptionally pure algae oil containing more than 50% omega-3 fatty acids.

High dosage vegan vitamin E protects against oxidation

Omega-3 fatty acids are sensitive to oxidation. When oil oxidizes, it becomes rancid and loses effectiveness. Therefore, we added 2.1 mg of antioxidant vitamin E to help protect omega-3 against oxidation.

Exceptionally low TOTOX oxidation value of <8

Another unique feature of our Vegan Omega-3 capsules is the exceptionally low TOTOX oxidation value (<8). The TOTOX value measures oil purity and absence of contaminants. Legally, this value must remain below 26. With a value below 8, our algae oil performs exceptionally well.

No fishy aftertaste

Due to the low TOTOX value and added vitamin E, this algae oil does not cause fishy burps. Such aftertaste is linked to oxidation levels in the oil.

Softgels prevent algae taste

Our vegan algae oil is available in capsule form, preventing the taste of algae oil, which many people find unpleasant.

For those who prefer not to swallow capsules, Vegan Omega-3 Algae Oil is also available in liquid form, allowing flexible dosing.
