Coenzyme Q10 and Omega-3 from food
Coenzyme Q10 naturally occurs in organ meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds, olive oil, broccoli, and oranges. The omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are mainly obtained from fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, and sardines. Plant-based foods such as walnuts, flaxseed, chia seeds, and hemp seeds contain the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, which still needs to be converted into DHA and EPA in the body.
The best absorbable Q10 ubiquinol
Q10 exists in two forms: ubiquinone and ubiquinol. These substances are closely related and can be converted into each other in the body. Ubiquinone is the oxidized form of Q10 and ubiquinol is the reduced, biologically active form of Q10.
Although both forms occur naturally, they differ in structure and properties. The illustration below schematically shows the relationship between ubiquinone and ubiquinol and how these two forms are connected.
Ubiquinol vs ubiquinone
Ubiquinol QH™ from the renowned Kaneka
A disadvantage of ubiquinol is that the substance is often unstable and susceptible to oxidation. After ten years of intensive research, developer Kaneka found a solution. This award-winning Japanese company guarantees consistent quality, stability, and safety for its ubiquinol. As a result, Kaneka Ubiquinol QH™ became the first and only ubiquinol in the world approved as a nutritional ingredient.
