Green-lipped mussel with vitamin C for collagen formation
Green-lipped mussel from New Zealand waters
The green-lipped mussel is named after the light green edge on the shell. This mussel lives only in New Zealand waters in the Marlborough Sounds. The area supports clean conditions for growth. Green-lipped mussel contains essential fatty acids and glycosaminoglycans, also called GAGs. GAGs are long sugar chains found throughout the body, mainly in cartilage, joint fluid, and skin.
Ovomet® eggshell membrane as a key ingredient
This formula also includes the patented eggshell membrane Ovomet®. Ovomet® naturally contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, chondroitin, keratin, lysozyme, and more than 500 proteins.
The formula also includes vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for normal bone function. Vitamin C also contributes to normal collagen formation for normal cartilage function.
Why an extract matters
When green-lipped mussel is processed into powder, the nutrient value stays similar, but the concentration of active components stays low. An extract offers a higher concentration.
