Ascorbic acid as the common form

Ascorbic acid is the most well-known form of vitamin C. It is the form that naturally occurs in food. Oranges, broccoli, and apples all contain vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid.

Calcium ascorbate bound to threonate

Ascorbic acid is acidic. High-dose supplementation can therefore cause stomach or intestinal discomfort. When vitamin C needs are higher, Ester C 1000 is a suitable alternative. Ester C is calcium ascorbate bound to threonate. This form is non-acidic and gentle on the stomach and intestines.

Ester-C® is a patented form

Ester-C® is patented, which means other developers cannot freely produce the same calcium ascorbate bound to threonate. The threonate binding adds value because it is a vitamin C metabolite. The body naturally converts vitamin C into metabolites, but part of the vitamin is lost during this process. By binding calcium ascorbate to a metabolite, the body can absorb vitamin C directly without additional conversion steps. Threonate can also help mobilize vitamin C from body stores, which gives Ester-C® an additional advantage over other ascorbate forms.

Citrus bioflavonoids support vitamin C uptake

Bioflavonoids are plant nutrients also known as vitamin P. Citrus bioflavonoids occur mainly in the soft white layer under the peel of citrus fruits. Cooking can reduce vitamin P levels in food by 70 to 90 percent. Supplementation can therefore be useful.

Research shows that vitamin P can improve vitamin C uptake by about 35 percent. Citrus bioflavonoids also slow the absorption of ascorbic acid and reduce urinary excretion. Improved uptake and higher bioavailability are the reasons citrus bioflavonoids are included in this Ester-C supplement.

Rose hip extract supports resistance

Rose hip is the fruit of the rose plant. This antioxidant naturally contains vitamin C, up to about 45 percent in this extract. Rose hip extract is included because it supports resistance, similar to vitamin C. Support is also linked to digestive function and kidney and gallbladder function. This makes rose hip more than a symbolic plant.
