Berberine, a long-standing ingredient in Chinese medicine

Berberine originates from the Berberis plant genus. One key species in this family is Berberis aristata, also known as Indian barberry or tree turmeric. High-quality berberine extract is produced from the roots of Berberis aristata. In countries such as China, India, and Japan, this extract has been used for thousands of years.

Berberine for the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels

Berberine is a naturally occurring compound found in plants of the Berberis genus. One well-known member of this family is the barberry shrub. Berberine is present in the roots, stem, bark, and berries of the plant. In Chinese medicine, this bioactive plant compound has been widely used for a long time. In recent years, berberine has gained attention in Western countries, which has increased its general recognition.

Scientific research into berberine has grown strongly over the past decades. These studies have identified several health-related properties. High dosage of 500 mg per capsule

Most berberine supplements contain between 100 and 300 mg per capsule. This amount is often insufficient for many applications, including support for maintaining normal cholesterol levels. Scientific research shows that a daily intake of 1500 mg is commonly used and effective. For this reason, Berberine 500 provides 500 mg of berberine extract per capsule.

World-leading berberine extract Rebersa®

After years of research, Rebersa® has been identified as one of the purest berberine extracts worldwide, with a concentration of 97 to 102 percent berberine. Rebersa® is derived from barberry root. Berberine belongs to a group of plant compounds known as alkaloids. In high-quality extracts, berberine is sourced from the root. Lower-quality extracts often use leaves or stems instead.

Rebersa® is produced by Sabinsa, a company also known for supplying ingredients used in Curcuma C2-3X and BioPerine®, which is used to support nutrient absorption.

Extract with 97 to 102 percent berberine salts

The effectiveness of Berberine 500 is largely due to the high concentration of active compounds in the Rebersa® extract. Berberine also supports activation of AMP-activated protein kinase, an enzyme involved in cellular energy balance. This enzyme plays a role in regulating energy use by supporting glucose and fatty acid metabolism when cellular energy is low. This process contributes to the maintenance of normal blood sugar levels.
