Vitamin D in the recommended dosage
The Health Council advises an extra 10 mcg of Vitamin D daily for children up to 4 years old, throughout the year. Vitamin D supports the formation and development of the skeleton in children. Newborn babies cannot yet obtain enough Vitamin D from food or sunlight. For this reason, infants need extra Vitamin D through supplementation.
When and how much?
The national guideline for Vitamin D recommends a daily intake of 10 mcg for children up to 4 years of age. One 10 ml bottle of Baby D therefore covers the entire first year.
Vitamin D supports strong bones in children
Vitamin D plays an important role in overall health, and this role is even more important during early childhood. During growth and development, children need Vitamin D to support normal bone growth and development. Vitamin D improves calcium absorption. It also supports cell division and contributes to tissue growth and development. In addition, Vitamin D has a positive effect on the immune system of children. This makes it a key nutrient for young children.
Vitamin D3 in the right dosage up to 4 years
The Health Council advises giving children up to 4 years old 10 mcg of Vitamin D per day. The quality of the Vitamin D form can vary. Vitamin D exists in two forms.
Vitamin D3 is the best form
One form is ergocalciferol, also known as Vitamin D2. This form mainly occurs in plant sources such as mushrooms. The second form is cholecalciferol, known as Vitamin D3. This is the form that humans and animals produce under the influence of sunlight. Vitamin D3 is the most bioavailable form for the human body and is therefore absorbed more efficiently. For this reason, Baby D contains Vitamin D3.
Alternatives and next steps

Alternatives for the first year
Do you prefer more than Vitamin D alone for your baby under 1 year old, such as additional omega 3 fatty acids? In that case, we recommend Multi Nacht Junior.
