Passion Flower
The beautiful and exotic-looking passion flower is widely known and loved but the flower is not where the active ingredients for passion flower products are found. Those come from the leaves.
The substances in the passionflower leaves that provide the action are flavonoids (including vitexin), coumarins, essential oils and alkaloids (including harmine). The latter substance in particular provides the relaxing and calming effects* and is therefore an essential ingredient in passion flower supplements.
