Brewer's Yeast = Baker's Yeast
Brewer's yeast and baker's yeast refer to the same thing. It is a single-celled fungus, also known as *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*.
*Saccharomyces boulardii* is a yeast related to *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*, but they are used for different purposes.
*S. boulardii* is used as a probiotic, and *S. cerevisiae* is a great addition to the diet due to its rich amount of nutrients.
*S. cerevisiae*, which is brewer's yeast, is very rich in nutrients, especially B vitamins. The following B vitamins can be found in brewer's yeast: vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, Biotin, and Folic Acid. It naturally contains little to no B12. Therefore, brewer's yeast supplements are often fortified with vitamin B12.

In addition, it is rich in protein and minerals. About half of its weight can consist of proteins, along with significant amounts of chromium, selenium, zinc, magnesium, and potassium, depending on how it is cultivated and fortified.
Brewer's yeast has an excellent amino acid profile and contains all essential amino acids, including leucine, isoleucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, valine, tryptophan, histidine, and threonine.
In brewing beer, brewer's yeast is used to ferment sugars from grain into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Nowadays, brewer's yeast is also cultivated separately and used as a food supplement, but the name still refers to its origin in beer brewing.
