The category name Multivitamins (shortened to multi) falls short for most products. They are usually a combination of biologically active vitamins and minerals. Some manufacturers also add antioxidants, herbs, or DHA to meet the more specific needs of certain target groups.

Because calcium and magnesium take up a lot of space in a tablet or capsule, the dosage of these minerals in a multi is often low, as there would otherwise be no room for other nutrients. Therefore, it is recommended to use a separate calcium-magnesium supplement in addition to a multi. Multivitamins are a good foundation in combination with other supplements anyway.
