Vitamin C as calcium ascorbate involves a significantly less acidic form of vitamin C than ascorbic acid.

The acidity (pH value) of calcium ascorbate averages 7,1 (for comparison, ascorbic acid has a pH value of about 2,3) and its vitamin C activity is around 82%.

In fact people who need higher doses of vitamin C often often appear to have gastrointestinal problems. For them, a deacidified form of vitamin C offers a solution.
